LAKE CHARLES, La. — The Lake Charles Police Department arrested a man on Tuesday for dropping off a deceased body at Moss Regional Hospital on Monday.

LCPD state that they responded to a call Monday afternoon to Moss Regional at 1000 Walters Street in Street in reference to a deceased body being dropped off there.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s office, the decedent was identified as Gavin Blaine Benoit, 18, of Vinton. The Coroner’s Office says that the decedent’s cause of death is pending toxicology results and there are no signs of trauma or foul play.

Investigators say that they determined that Ryan Spencer George, 35, of Lake Charles, was the one who dropped off Benoit.

The Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office then issued warrant for failure to seek assistance for George.

LCPD arrested George on Tuesday during a traffic stop near West College Street, where he was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal possession of stolen things, and various narcotics charges.
