The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says a homicide investigation is underway after a man was found lying in the middle of a roadway in Lake Charles.
Deputies say they were called around 11:00 pm on Thursday, July 23 in reference to a man in the roadway near the intersection of Opelousas Street and Ange Street.
The man, identified as 53-year-old Anthony J. Bennett, was rendered aid and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is in its preliminary stages but, according to deputies, is being investigated as a homicide.
