One person has died following an Friday morning motorcycle crash in Westlake.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says they responded to the crash on March 13 around 1:50 am in the area of Miller Avenue and Smith Ferry Road.
The crash claimed the life of 40-year-old David A. Pitt of Westlake.
According to deputies, their investigation revealed that the Pitt was driving his motorcycle southbound on Miller Avenue when he lost control while attempting to negotiate a curve.
As a result, the motorcylce traveled off of the roadway and into a ditch.
Pitt was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
Deputies say Pitt was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The sheriff's office says that toxicology testing will be performed.
