LAKE CHARLES, La - Deputies are investigating the death of a Calcasieu Correctional Center inmate.
Monday at 10:30 p.m., an inmate at the Calcasieu Correctional Center was found hanging in his single-man cell.
Deputies immediately cut him down and attempted to perform lifesaving measures, but he was later pronounced dead by medical personnel, according to a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokesperson.
The cause of death is unknown at this time, but foul play is not suspected.
The investigation is continuing.
