On Monday, several schools in Calcasieu Parish opened to faculty and staff in order to prepare for the arrival of students.
Students will return to the classroom on Thursday, October 8, and follow the school district's blue and gold schedule.
Students on the Gold Schedule (last names beginning with letters A-K) will return to school on Thursday. Students on the Blue schedule (last names beginning L-Z) will have their first day of school on Monday, October 12.
The school board says that students unable to return to a face-to-face environment will need to check in with their assigned teacher to continue with virtual learning. That learning is already in progress.
The list of schools opening to students may change as power is restored and other assessment factors are made.
