An inmate is dead after being found unresponsive in his single-man cell Thursday night at the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office says that deputies located 47-year-old Ray A. Lawrence, Jr. of Lake Charles unresponsive in his cell at 6:30 pm on October 1.
Deputies say they immediately attempted to revive Lawrence who was later pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel.
The Calcasieu Coroner will determine a cause of death.
They say that no foul play is suspected in Lawrence's death.
