An Arizona man in town to help clear hurricane debris died after a crash that happened last week.

Leandre Goree, 29, was driving a bucket truck on West Prien Lake Road on Sept. 30 when for an unknown reason it traveled off the road, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's deputies say.

The truck then rolled over and caught on fire. Goree was airlifted to a hospital out of town and on Saturday, October 2 he succumbed to his injuries sustained in the accident, deputies say.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time and the investigation is still continuing. As mandated by state law, toxicology testing was performed.

Deputies say they believe Goree was in town helping clear trees downed by Hurricane Laura.

CPSO Lt. Bryan Guth is the lead investigator of this accident.
