A 5-year-old was killed Tuesday night in Lake Charles after being struck by a vehicle entering a driveway.
Lake Charles Police say the incident happened at 7:02 pm in the 1500 block of L'Acadie Drive.
Police determined that the vehicle struck the child as it was turning into a driveway. The child sustained injuries that police say were non-survivable and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash, but standard toxicology tests are pending for the driver.
The Lake Charles Police Department Traffic Division and Calcasieu Parish Coroner's Office are investigating the incident.
