12-year-old dies following Lake Charles house fire, others injured

A late night fire in Lake Charles has claimed the life of a 12-year-old girl and injured three others inside the home.

The State Fire Marshal deputies along with Lake Charles Fire Department and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, are investigating a fire Tuesday night in Lake Charles. That fire involved multiple injuries and one death.

The fire department says they responded around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, to a call for a trailer fire located in the 300 block of Dobbertine Drive. Four people were inside the home at the time of the fire. The fire marshal's office says those people included the homeowner and a woman with her two children, a 12-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy

All were transported to a local hospital.

Investigators say that while three of the people injured remain hospitalized, the 12-year-old girl has died.

A cause for the fire was not released.
