With the new Safe Shop Guidance in place in Lafayette, one business is saying "We're open" once again.

Buttross Jewelers was one of many non-essential businesses that felt the economic impact of COVID-19.

Now, the doors are reopening, and owners are preparing to safely welcome customers back. Employees have been sanitizing and cleaning the store in preparation for their doors to open.

Sales Manager Louise Buttross explained, "We're excited to see everyone. After being in business for over 43 years, Buttross Jewelers definitely has a clientele and family members and friends that we're very much excited to get back and see. With safety precautions of course."

Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory announced the new Safe Shop guidance on Thursday; it encourages businesses not explicitly forced to close by the state to reopen. Businesses must have employees wear masks and limit the number of people in stores. Examples of such businesses are smaller retail shops, clothing stores, and jewelry stores such as Buttross Jewelers.
