Evangeline Parish releases return-to-school plan

Evangeline Parish Schools: Faculty and Staff should still report to work

VILLE PLATTE, La. - The Evangeline Parish School Board released its return to school plan and changed the first day of school.

The first day of school initially was August 12, now the new date will be August 24.

The plan below is based on the State of Louisiana being in Phase 2.

Pre-k - 5th grade will attend school in small groups and remain together throughout the day. All students will receive face-to-face instruction Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday. Every Wednesday, all school employees will report to their assigned schools. Students 3rd grade and up must wear a face covering.

For grades 6th - 8th, students will attend in small groups and remain together throughout the day. They will be assigned one of two groups. Group A and Group B will attend on their designated days. Group A will attend Monday and Tuesday, and Group B will attend Thursday and Friday. All students will receive instruction Monday and Tuesday, and Thursday and Friday, where one group will be face to face while the other will be participating in distance learning off campus.

Students in 9th -12th will receive instruction at their assigned school in small groups and remain together throughout the day. Students will be assigned to one of two groups. Group A and Group B will attend on their designated days. Group A will attend Monday and Tuesday, and Group B will attend Thursday and Friday. All students will receive instruction Monday and Tuesday and Thursday and Friday, where one group will be face to face while the other group will participate in distance learning off-campus. All students must wear a face covering.

Students who choose to stay home and use distance learning have until July 31 to enroll. Click here to sign up for the Evangeline Virtual Academy. So far, there has been more than 1,000 students enroll which is significantly more than last year, according to the superintendent.
