As Acadia Parish public school students return to class. Getting to school will look different to parents and kids. Some parents are concerned about the back and forth trips. The school system has a plan in place, even possibly doubling routes for drivers.

Buses will be disinfected after each route, and hand sanitizing stations will be on the bus. Students will wear masks and be placed away from each other as much as possible to allow social distancing, as well as getting the maximum number of students on each bus for efficiency.

Kids will be following some new rules, but Scott Richard, the Acadia Parish Superintendent says both kids and parents will need to cooperate. He says, "We contract those services to D.S. Bus and they are working through safety protocols to make sure that drivers understand that they need to be masked up and our students, especially grades 3-12 are masked up. We're going to need a lot of cooperation from our parents on that perspective especially to make students are wearing masks."

Policies will be reviewed and changed if there are adjustments to the state's reopening orders. For more information visit the Acadia Parish Schools Website.
