The overall goal of the Lower Vermilion River Watershed Plan is to address the recurring threat of saline storm surge and similar flood-related damages to or loss of homes, infrastructure, crops, livestock, and local industry for the residents and landowners of central and lower Vermilion Parish.
The final plan will identify solutions to mitigate and reduce saline storm surge and other flood damage to farms, homes, and businesses, while also enhancing public safety and improving overall water quality and wetland habitat in the area.
The Vermilion Soil & Water Conservation District is a local unit of the Louisiana State Government established to identify, prioritize and address local natural resources conservation needs and concerns within Vermilion Parish. Visit http://vermilionswcd.weebly.com/ for more information.
