UPDATE: Power was restored in the city of Abbeville around 2:15 p.m. on Saturday.
Power was knocked out several hours prior to that, after a crop duster hit a power line, Entergy officials said.
A release from the city stated that the drawbridge was up when the power went out, meaning it was closed to traffic until the power was restored.
Officials with Entergy confirm that a crop duster hit a transmission line, but couldn't provide any additional information.
A spokesman for the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office said that no one was injured.
The small plane did strike the power line, but the aircraft made it safely back to its airfield with minimal damage, Major Sammy LaPorte said.
We reached out to the National Transportation Safety Board, and a spokesman told us that they had been "notified of an event in which an airplane (N910MG) conducting an aerial application struck powerlines and returned to land at around 1:20 pm near Vermillion Parish."
NTSB officials are gathering more information, he said.
