Woman hit during drive-by shooting in Abbeville

Abbeville Police are investigating after a woman was hit following a drive-by shooting on Saturday.

Police say they responded to a call of shots fired at 11:13 pm on Saturday, May 4 near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and South Bailey Street. A caller allegedly told police that she heard shots coming from a vehicle in the area.

When police arrived they say that a woman was found with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh. She was transported to Abbeville General Hospital where she was treated and released.

An investigation by the department found that the female victim and another woman who was carrying a child were walking down Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive when several vehicles began passing. Witnesses say that they heard shots and that the victim was hit.

No suspects have been identified in the incident.
