Abbeville man accused of participating in a large scale marijuana distribution operation

According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, the Vermilion Municipal and Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force made the following arrest for drug related offenses within the parish on December 21, 2018:

25-year-old Rodney Dwayne Harris Jr is facing charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I, (Marijuana), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, (2 counts), Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Drug Free Zone, (Church), Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Drug Free Zone, (School),   Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Attempted Obliteration of a serial number on a Firearm, Possession of a Controlled Dangerous substance in the Presence of a Juvenile (2 counts).

Deputies say the arrest came after a search of a home at 1301 East St. Victor Street in Abbeville.  There they say they found two firearms with large extended magazines, ammunition, and evidence of a large scale distribution operation.
