In Vermilion Parish, voters decided on Dale Stelly as their new school board member. He received 52% of the vote against the school board president Stacy Landry. Landry has clashed with half of his fellow board members in recent weeks, was the target of a “censure” by those members .
Voters in Sub-Road District No. 2 of Road. District No. 2 granted the renewal of a 6.5 mill tax that raises $6,300 annually for roads in the district. It passed with 72% of the vote.
Voters in Sub-Road Dist. No. 5 of the Gueydan Drainage District also approved a renewal; of a 6-mill tax that raises about $323,000 annually, for 10 years, and voters in Sub-Road District No. 5 of Road District No. 2 also approved the continuation of a 6-mill tax that raises about $168,000 annually. I
And, in Road District No. 3, voters approved the continuation of a 6.10 mill tax that raises about $85,000 annually for road projects in the district. It passed with nearly 53% of the vote.
In the City of Kaplan, voters approved a $750,000 bond issue to pay for public utility systems work. It passed with 66% of the vote.
