Abbeville police will provide a school resource officer to Abbeville High School.
The city council approved an agreement with the Vermilion school board for that officer Tuesday night.
Under that agreement, the school board will pay the officer.
Officials say that in the months that school is not in session, the officer will be assigned to the parks and rec department.
