Two area teachers have been awarded $350 each for school supplies as part of Pelican State Credit Union's annual Teacher Bulletin Board Contest.
Teachers were asked to submit a photo of their bulletin board, classroom door, or virtual learning background for the chance to win up to $350 to go towards supplies for their classrooms. Winners were determined based on how many reactions, or votes, each submission received on the union's Facebook page.
Among this year's winners were Kasey Theriot, who teaches at Sts. Leo-Seton Catholic School in Lafayette, and Nicole Sparks, a teacher at Northeast Elementary in Opelousas. A total of 12 teachers across the state received $250 in cash prizes. Theriot and Sparks were among the three highest vote-getters, so they each received an additional $100 for a total of $350.
"The Teacher Bulletin Board Contest is a true representation of Pelican's commitment to supporting the educators in its communities. Teachers provide the young minds of tomorrow the guidance they need to be the best versions of themselves possible. We're honored to be able to give back each year to educators across Louisiana," explained Pelican CEO Jeffrey K. Conrad.
