The Family Tree in Lafayette is providing a few tips to those who find themselves overwhelmed this week as Hurricane Laura has her sights set on the Gulf Coast.

Many in Acadiana who were previously impacted by hurricanes or flooding may be dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as Laura is predicted to have similar effects to Hurricane Rita in 2005.

The Family Tree has several tips to help those who may be dealing with PTSD this week or this hurricane season.

If you feel the storm is causing stress or anxiety, you can reach out to The Family Tree to schedule a virtual counseling session. The office will be closed on Wednesday, August 26, and Thursday, August 27, but plans to reopen on Friday, August 28 from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
