Status of Acadiana schools for Friday

Cold weather on Friday, January 21, has caused some school systems to announce closures or moves to virtual learning.

See the announcements below:

Acadia Parish - Out of an abundance of caution based on the most recent cold weather forecast and due to the possibility of unsafe driving conditions early Friday morning, the Acadia Parish School System will be closed Friday, January 21. We will resume normal operations Monday, January 24.

Iberia Parish - The Iberia Parish School District will have a virtual learning day on Friday, January 21, 2022, due to uncertain early morning weather conditions.

Jeff Davis Parish - will have a virtual day tomorrow due to weather issues and the danger of transporting students on icy roads and bridges.

Lafayette Parish - All Lafayette Parish schools and facilities will be closed tomorrow, Friday, January 21, 2022, due to the possibility of early morning unsafe driving conditions. This is a complete system shutdown and will not be a virtual learning day.

St. Landry Parish - After further consultation with the Office of Emergency Preparedness and receiving the latest reports from the National Weather Service, all St. Landry Parish School Board schools, Head Start centers, and administrative offices will be closed tomorrow, January 21, 2022. Students will not have remote learning tomorrow.

St. Martin Parish - Out of an abundance of caution, all St. Martin Parish schools will be closed to in-person instruction tomorrow, Friday, January 21, 2022. The district will have a virtual instruction day and teachers will be providing instruction via Google Classroom. Central Office staff are to report at 10:30 as the office will be open.

St. Mary Parish - St. Mary Parish Schools and offices will close tomorrow, January 21st out of an abundance of caution given potential weather conditions in the early morning hours. Students and staff will return to school as scheduled on Monday, January 24th.

Central Catholic, St. John Elementary, Hanson & Chitimacha will also be closed Friday due to inclement weather.

Evangeline Parish - Evangeline parish Schools will be OPEN tomorrow unless weather conditions deteriorate or circumstances dictate otherwise.

Vermilion Parish - Vermilion Parish Schools and Central Office will be closed tomorrow.

Our Mother of Peace will be closed- Church Point

V. B. Glencoe Charter School will participate in virtual learning. All students will return to in-person, face-to-face learning at school on Monday, January 24, 2022.

St Cecilia School in Broussard - will be closed tomorrow

Willow Charter Academy - will be closed tomorrow.

Youngsville Christian School

Epiphany Day School in New Iberia

Catholic High in New Iberia will be closed. The school will be remote learning.

Ascension Episcopal will be closed tomorrow. All 3 campuses.

JCFA Charter School-Lafayette will be Closed tomorrow.

Sugar ‘n Spice Children’s Academy closed tomorrow. All locations

Gethsemane Christian Academy and Gethsemane Lapetite Child Development Center will be closed tomorrow.

Southern A&M College in Baton Rouge will delay opening for normal operations until 10 a.m. on Friday. Online classes will continue as scheduled.

All schools under the Diocese of Lafayette will be closed EXCEPT for St. Peter and Paul in Scott and Vermilion Catholic. Those schools will be open.

Episcopal School of Acadiana will be closed tomorrow in Lafayette and Cade
