BOYCE, La. — The Louisiana State Police have identified Randy Jefferys, 52, of Boyce, as the pedestrian who died Tuesday after being struck by a Boyce Police Department car on LA Hwy 1.

According to LSP, Jefferys was standing with a bicycle near the fog line in the southbound lane of LA Hwy 1 near Rapides Station Road when he was struck by a BPD car, a 2019 Dodge Charger, that was being driven by an on-duty Boyce Police Officer.

LSP say the Boyce Police Officer was not injured in the crash and impairment is not suspected with a routine toxicology analysis pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
