St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested two inmates who were working at the motor pool after they found drugs there.

Brodie Boudreaux, 25, of Morgan City, was booked with conspiracy to distribute marijuana, heroin, synthetic marijuana and methamphetamine; obstruction of justice and criminal damage to property.

Cody Pearce, 30, of Berwick, was booked with conspiracy to distribute marijuana, heroin, synthetic marijuana and methamphetamine; obstruction of justice and conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal facility.

The investigation started on Friday, when narcotics detectives were called to the motor pool in Garden City about some packages that had been found. Inside the packages were (2) quart size ziploc baggies which contained loose tobacco, rolling papers, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and synthetic cannabinoids, a spokesman said.

This is what the sheriff’s office alleges: During the investigation, it was learned two trustees identified as Pearce and Boudreaux were involved. Both trustees were observed trying to put the packages in a five-gallon bucket. While Boudreaux was going through the packages and separating them, Pearce was looking out for deputies. Subsequently, Boudreaux located a surveillance camera, took the camera down, and threw it in Bayou Teche, a spokesman said.

Both were transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. No bond has been set.
