Body of Terrebonne Parish man recovered in Morgan City

The Morgan City Police Department says that the body of a man reported missing from Terrebonne Parish was recovered Wednesday night in Morgan City.

The department says that a homicide investigation by the Terrebonne Parish and Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office led deputies to Morgan City where the body was found.

According to police, the body of 53-year-old Kirby Courteaux Jr. was located in the area of Levee Road and Veterans Blvd. Courteaux was reported missing by his family and was last seen leaving a bar on Saturday, May 11 in Montegut.

Courteaux was reportedly killed in Lafourche Parish, according to police.

According to the Houma Today, deputies spotted Courteaux’s gray Toyota Tundra being driven by 22-year-old Terance Dupre of Montegut on Wednesday.

When they attempted a traffic stop, Dupre allegedly drove the truck into a wooded area along La. 665 and fled on foot.

Dupre was apprehended and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office for questioning. Further investigation led to the information that Courteaux had been killed in Lafourche and his body was in Morgan City, according to authorities.
