Police have identified the man found dead in Morgan City early on Sunday, March 31.
The Morgan City Police Department reported Sunday that the body of a male was found lying on the sidewalk along Hwy 70 between Teche Regional Medical Center and Veterans Blvd.
That man has been identified as 44-year-old Derrick Wayne Hayes of Morgan City.
Police say no signs of trauma or foul play were uncovered. The St. Mary Parish Coroner’s Office conducted an autopsy on Monday. A preliminary report indicates that Hayes died of natural causes, according to police.
