According to St. Mary Parish School Board officials, Franklin Junior High School will be closed on Tuesday, February 19 and Wednesday, February 20 due to bats.
A text message received by parents from the school stated that the closure was necessary to monitor for bats in and around the school buildings.
Superintendent Leonard Armato closed the school on Thursday and Friday of last week due to bats that were observed flying in the gym. The closure was announced so that officials could address the issue and remove the animals.
It was determined over the weekend that the school would reopen to students on Monday. A phone call to the school board office confirmed that the school would close for two days this week.
