Man re-arrested in connection with shooting on MLK Blvd in Franklin

The Franklin Police Department says they re-arrested an inmate and booked him on additional charges in connection with a shooting on Martin Luther King Blvd. in Franklin.

20-year-old Jakhi Conner was re-arrested while incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center in connection with an investigation of shots fired on August 4 and 5.

Police say Conner was identified as a suspect during an initial investigation and arrested him on August 14. Six suspects, including Conner, were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the shooting. To read more about those arrests, click here.

Police say that witnesses told officers that a group of individuals in separate vehicles started an argument leading to the shooting.

Conner’s August 16 arrest added additional charges of 5 counts attempted second-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property.

Conner was booked and remains at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. An investigation into the shooting is still ongoing
