Sandra Sarr who has served as the executive director of the Teche Center for the Arts since February 2018 and an active volunteer with Acadiana Animal Aid, is battling invasive breast cancer, and this time the tables are turned and the community is stepping up to help her.

Sarr’s friends have set up an account for her at FM Bank in Breaux Bridge.

Here’s a post Sarr wrote about her situation:

This is a tough post to write. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. I will undergo surgery June 17 and am asking for your prayers and uplifting wishes. A few days ago, I received the sudden and unexpected news that I’d received my last paycheck on May 31. A kind friend has established an account in my name at FM Bank in Breaux Bridge where donations can be made to help me get through this difficult time.
I look forward to returning to work as soon as my doctor releases me to do so.
This morning I am in my garden counting my blessings as the Great Spirit moves through my being. I know that whatever happens, I will be fine. Thank you for your love and support.

A few days later, she posted the following:

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of you who’ve contributed to a fund to help me as I undergo treatment for cancer without receiving a paycheck from my employer. Several people have asked if it’s alright to share the donation information. If you are so moved, yes, please feel free to share with others. Thank you.

If you’d like to help, you can make a contribution to the account, number 0265403. The account number must be on any checks sent to the bank.

Donations can be mailed or delivered to:
