The Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival kicks off tonight with alcohol free family night.
The main festival begins Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Crawfish is five pounds for $20. You and your family can have boiled crawfish, or many different dishes.
“Oh it’ll be plenty. We serve any way from boiled to fried. and in between. And probably between 15-20 thousand lbs will be served this weekend,” said association Mark Bernard.
Many different bands will play Friday through Sunday on two different stages, Bernard said.
“Music we got 30 of the best Cajun zydeco bands,” Bernard said. “Swamp pop in addition to that. And it’s all Louisiana talent. Probably a 60 mile radius of Lafayette area. We’re proud that it’s our culture and our heritage that we’re presenting to our tourist. “
Here’s the schedule for tomorrow:
4:00pm – Gates Open
4:30pm – Opening Ceremonies – Crawfish Stage
4:45pm – Celebrity Crawfish Eating Contest – Crawfish Stage
5:15pm-6:45 pm – Cajun Dance Lesson, Breaux Bridge Tent – Cal & Lou Courville
12:00am – Festival Grounds Close
