The Etouffee Festival wrapped up today, after three days of culture and food at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville.

The festival began as a fundraiser for the Little Flower School in 1985, and was initially established by the Knights of Columbus. Since that time, the school has closed, but the church parish continues the tradition of the festival to help offset the costs of insuring the school buildings, according to the church website.

The festival features many great events, including carnival rides, live musical entertainment, food, and bingo. On Saturday there was a Mayor’s Etouffee Cookoff and a 5K run, and today there was a car show and competition.

“All the proceeds go back to the community and they help the church, the St. Regis Catholic Church,” said Dani Peavy, Miss Etouffee. “Any profits that are made benefit everything for the year for the church.”
