The St. Martin Parish Government says that around 3,000 empty sandbags were stolen.

Those bags were taken from Stephensville Park on LA 70.

Parish officials say that a limited number of bags will be available on site.

“If the problem continues, St. Martin Parish Government will be forced to implement more inconvenient measures,” officials said.

The sandbags have been made available for residents who are seeing flooding from high water in the area. Several roads in and around Stephensville were closed due to high water concerns.

As of March 12, 2019, 23,762 bags have been distributed to residents.
