Today will be the last day for distribution of pre-filled sandbags from 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. in lower St. Martin Parish, officials say.
Self-service sandbagging will continue to be available and residents are reminded that they need to bring their own shovels in order to fill them.
Parish President Chester Cedars would like to ask residents to hold on to their sandbags when the current flood concern is over. It’s possible a flood threat may remain through May, he said.
