Breaux Bridge police are reminding drivers the on and off-ramps of I-10 East at LA 328 (Rees Street) in Breaux Bridge will be closed this weekend.

Weather permitting, the closure will begin Saturday, March 16 at 1 a.m. and will last until Monday, March 18 at 6 a.m.

This closure is in preparation for the upcoming I-10 eastbound traffic switch from Mile Marker 104 to Mile Marker 109.

Officials say the detour for I-10 eastbound traffic trying to take Exit 109 – LA 328 in Breaux Bridge will be Exit 115 – LA 347 (Henderson/Cecilia) then back onto I-10 westbound to Exit 109 – LA 328 in Breaux Bridge.

The detour for north and southbound traffic on LA 328 (Rees Street) will be I-10 westbound to Exit 104 – Louisiana Avenue and back onto I-10 East.

The $124.7 million I-10 widening project will involve widening a 7.11-mile section from I-49 to Breaux Bridge and will include pavement replacement within the existing lanes and the construction of one additional lane in each direction along I-10 from I-49 to LA 328.

The project began in May 2017 and is estimated for completion in fall 2019.
