Suspect arrested in connection with St. Martinville homicide

Police in St. Martinville have arrested a man wanted in connection to an August 2018 murder.

Police say they arrested Bernard Mitchell IV on charges of accessory after the fact of second-degree murder for his involvement in the death of Malik Filer.

Relatives who spoke to KATC las year say 17-year-old Malik Filer’s mother had just dropped him off at his aunt’s house on North Vivier Street when someone ran up to him and shot him multiple times Sunday, August 5, 2018.

An arrest warrant was issued for the alleged shooter in this case Daylon “Ko Ko” Alexander. He is wanted on a charge of second-degree murder. He has not been arrested.
