St. Martin Parish School Board has approved a supplemental pay for teachers and secondary staff.
The one-time payment will be in the amount $500. That pay will be distributed in the new year.
The supplemental pay will cost the school system around $550,000 according to reports from Teche News.
Also at that meeting, the school board approved the hiring of a new superintendent to replace Lottie Beebe.
Allen Blanchard remains interim superintendent since Beebe’s departure from the school system in August.
The board will now begin, starting in February, to search to fill the position.
