State Police say an Opelousas woman died Sunday afternoon in a crash on La. 167 in St. Landry Parish.
Qiana Orville, 21, died in the crash, troopers say.
Orville was driving north on the highway when her vehicle traveled off the road in a curve and struck a tree. She was wearing her seat belt, but sustained fatal injuries, troopers say.
Impairment is unknown at this time, but standard toxicology samples were obtained for analysis. This crash remains under investigation, and there is no further information at this time.
Louisiana State Troopers say: “Always make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive while impaired, fatigued, or distracted, always ensure every occupant is properly restrained, and follow all traffic laws. While not all crashes are survivable, taking simple precautions such as these can often mean the difference between life and death.”
