School board members in St. Landry Parish tackled a budget gap during a meeting Monday.
The school system’s expenses are expected to be about $1 million more than their revenue. Last year they projected a budget deficit of $2M for 2018-2019. That projection is now a balance of $600,000.
One proposal suggests getting rid of 14 teacher positions that are not currently filled.
The board will make a decision next week and the Superintendent Patrick Jenkins says he wants to hear from the public before they do.
