Opelousas woman accused of attempted murder

OPELOUSAS, La. – An Opelousas woman is accused of attempted murder after allegedly stabbing two people.

On May 21, 2019, officers with the Opelousas Police Department investigated a disturbance call in the 700 block of Lastrapes St. that resulted in two stabbings, according to Major Mark Guidry, spokesperson for the Opelousas Police Department. Officers determined that Carletta Charles was involved in a disturbance with her boyfriend and another woman.

Police say Charles stabbed both her boyfriend and the other woman.

Both victims were treated and released from local hospitals.

Charles was booked into the St. Landry Parish Jail on charges of attempted second degree murder.
