The gofundme page for the three St. Landry Parish churches that burned is now exceeding $500,000 in their goal to reach $1.8 Million.

The page, set up by Ruth V. Jack, the Finance Secretary with the Seventh District Baptist Association, saw a surge in donations Tuesday. That page went live April 10, 2019 but many people sharing the page on Twitter commented on donating to the churches following the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Some high-profile tweets have the donations growing by the minute.

The money will be distributed between the three churches according to officials.

A separate GoFundMe campaign has been set up for Greater Union Baptist Church.

They are looking at a goal of $100,000. They have only raised a little over $1,200. That go fund me can be found here.

Holden Matthews was arrested in connection with those fires. On Monday, he was formally charged with hate crimes. Read that story here.
