One arrest made, one wanted for questioning in Eunice shootings

Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot says that one arrest has been made in connection with Tuesday’s shooting on South Mallet Street. Another is wanted for questioning in unrelated shooting incidents.

Fontenot says 18-year-old S-Zbor Veal of Opelousas was arrested on Tuesday following an investigation into a shooting on S. Mallet Street. No injuries were reported in that shooting.

Veal was arrested and booked by Opelousas Police on warrants unrelated to Tuesday’s shooting. Those charges include Resisting arrest, Illegal Possession of a Firearm, Felon in possession of a firearm and a seatbelt violation.

Eunice Police have placed a detainer on Veal for his alleged involvement in Tuesday morning’s shooting, according to police.

Police are also searching for 22-year-old Darius Bazile of Baton Rouge in connection with other shooting incidents in the city. He is wanted for questioning in those incidents.

Bazile is also wanted on bench warrants out of St. Landry Parish for Possession of Marijuana with intent to distribute and Bond Forfeiture.
