A ten-year-old boy is in the hospital after being hit by a vehicle while riding his bicycle.
Port Barre police responded to the crash at 2:20 p.m. in the 900 block of Saizan Ave.
According to Chief Deon Boudreaux, the boy who has autism was riding his bike in his yard and then entered the road into oncoming traffic. He was then hit by a vehicle traveling northbound on Saizan Ave.
The boy was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and was later transferred to a hospital in Lafayette. Chief Boudreaux says his condition is unknown at this time.
