Local girls had the chance to get read for prom today in Opelousas.
Granny’s Girl Project gave away donated dresses to young ladies at St. Luke Baptist Church today.
For two hours, volunteers helped high school girls who needed a dress to select the right look. There also was food, drinks, door prizes and other activities.
“I organize it on behalf of my grandmothers who were church going ladies,” said LaTasha Benson, founder of Granny’s Girl Project. “They dressed to the T, and any time I wanted something they came with it. So I was like, yes, I want to give back just like they did.”
