On Facebook, the organization says that their transport truck is broken and funds have dwindled in the process of making repairs. They say they have already put into $1800 for repairs but are now looking at another $1500 to fix the cooling system in the truck.

This according to Animal Control and Rescue is putting them in a very difficult position, leaving animals’ lives in jeopardy.

“We have no choice but to euthanize,” the Facebook post states.

They say that decision is due to not being able to transport animals out of the parish or state to make room for intake. They are currently asking for adoptions at their facility as every kennel is now full.

Animal Control says the parish gives them a budget but this does not cover the transport vehicle which is privately owned.

Those interested in adoption or donations for the SLPAC can contact the facility at 337-948-6184.
