Second woman arrested in alleged revenge shooting case

Following a shooting in Opelousas, a woman has been arrested, accused of giving false information on the whereabouts of the suspect involved.

26-year-old Brittany Thibodeaux was arrested for allegedly giving false statements during an interview with investigators

Police say that Thibodeaux’s arrest comes after an initial arrest in connection with a shooting on February 9, 2019, in Opelousas on Christ the King Road.

On February 14, 2019, detectives arrested Rayonna Nicole Smith and charged her with 1 Count of Principal to Attempted 1st Degree Murder (Felony) and 2 counts of Principle to Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.   

St. Landry Sheriff’s deputies arrested Smith and are still looking for her brother Michael White in what they are calling an alleged revenge shooting involving Smith’s ex-boyfriend.

Detectives say that it was discovered that Brittany Thibodeaux who is White’s girlfriend allegedly gave false statements during the interview and knew White’s whereabouts.  Thibodeaux also has knowledge of the warrants and his involvement in the shooting case.  

Thibodeaux was booked into the parish jail. 

Michael White’s last known address is 383 Pleasant Run Road in Opelousas and should be considered armed and dangerous.  He faces 4 counts of attempted 1st-degree murder, 1 count of felony in possession of a firearm, and 2 counts of aggravated criminal damage to property.
