OPELOUSAS–The principal of Opelousas High School has been reassigned.

St. Landry Parish schools superintendent Patrick Jenkins confirms to KATC that Dr. Myron Spencer is no longer the principal of OHS. Jenkins, citing personnel issues, would not elaborate on why Spencer was reassigned or where he is now stationed. Sources close to the school board tell KATC that Dr. Spencer has been reassigned to Center for Academic Programs.

Jenkins says assistant principal Ricky Julien will serve as interim principal for the remainder of the school year. Jenkins added the district will advertise for a new principal once the school year is over.

According to the school’s website, Dr. Spencer became principal at OHS in July 2018, replacing the retiring Dr. Rodney Johnson.
