Human trafficking was the topic of discussion at the Delta Grand Theater on Monday.

The St. Landry Anti-human Trafficking task force or SLEAT hosted an event to build awareness of human trafficking. Today, the group announced its plans to compile ways of addressing human trafficking within St. Landry and Evangeline Parish.

“The task force has met, accomplished its goals, and now positioned to further educate, inform, and train our communities about this horrific crime that impacts us all”, states Laura Balthazar, Director of the St. Landry-Evangeline Sexual Assault Center – the fiscal organization of the SLEAT task force.

This year, the governor announced funding from the US Department of Justice to fight against human trafficking.
