First Baptist Church of Port Barre hosted a groundbreaking ceremony this morning.
The church, led by Pastor Benji Richard, is preparing to construct a larger building.
The groundbreaking was held Sunday after the morning service.
“We’ve grown tremendously over the last several years and the building that we currently have now is so outdated and we’re building a new 15,000-square foot gymnasium,” Richard said. “There’s going to be Sunday school classes and many different amenities for our church and ministry that will truly be a blessing.”
