The boil water advisory for the Town of Port Barre has been lifted.

Water Works District 3 is still under a boil water advisory until further notice.

UPDATE: The water will be back on soon in the town of Port Barre.

The broken pipe has been fixed and the water tower is being filled. It will be quite a while before the pressure is restored to normal as everyone will be using the water, officials say.

The entire town is under a boil advisory until water samples can be tested and cleared. That will probably be Tuesday or Wednesday, officials say.

ORIGINAL STORY posted yesterday:

The water is being shut off in the Town of Port Barre because of a fire hydrant break.

According to the town’s clerk of court, the water will be off for an undetermined amount of time.

Once the pressure is fully restored, the town will be under a mandatory boil advisory for cautionary measures.

This also affects customers of Waterworks District #3.
