St. Landry Parish deputies pulled a body out of the bayou where they found a vehicle several days ago.

The body has been identified as Adrian James Ford, 37.

He was the man who was driving the vehicle that went into the bayou near Port Barre, and hasn’t been seen since it happened.

Earlier this week his sister told us that he was last seen with his girlfriend at the Quarters Casino in Opelousas at around midnight before the incident happened. Ford’s family is asking for anyone with information to come forward to help the investigation.

This weekend, Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said the girlfriend told deputies she escaped through the sunroof, but she didn’t see her boyfriend.  Deputies also say they’re being told this happened after Ford allegedly assaulted his girlfriend.

Guidroz said this past weekend that deputies are investigating the incident as a domestic dispute. At that time, deputies didn’t know if Ford remained in the car or if he fled the scene.

Ford’s sister has set up a GoFundMe account to help pay for his burial. If you’d like to help, click here.
