A ninth grade Opelousas High School student is in police custody after he allegedly hit the principal.

St Landry School Superintendent Patrick Jenkins says the student was in in-school suspension when he left the classroom. Jenkins says the principal was escorting the student to the office when the student hit and pushed the principal.

The student was then turned over to the custody of the school resource officer.   No injuries were reported.
